Specialized Hovercraft Pilot and Maintenance Training Syllabus

Prerequisites: None
Course Length: Average 3-7 days, 10-11 hours per day, depending on training specifications
Objectives: Students should understand fundamental principles of flight and master basic hovercraft operation and essential maintenance as well as core techniques and maneuvers required for their special application
Home Study: Students should read the Hovercraft Pilot Training Manual

1. Ground Training(Morning Session)

Depending on the experience and skill of each student, Specialized Training introduces or reviews the information taught in Standard Training and how the fundamental principles of flight apply to task-specific techniques and maneuvers.

2. Lunch(Provided by Hovercraft Training Centers)

3. Flight Training(Afternoon Session)

Students in this accelerated course perform real-world, task-specific drills such as:

Hands-on Land-to-Water Hover Training(Average 2-3 hours)

  • Endurance trips of 100 - 200 miles
  • Night operations using low-light vision equipment
  • Ice operations, including low-temperature rescue training (Seasonal)
  • Swiftwater training (Requires travel to training site)
  • Special mission planning, execution, and analysis (Seasonal if required. Travel can be arranged to accommodate training specifications.)
  • Hovercraft pilot instructor training. Student trains other students with 100% instructor involvement. Gain the skills to train your own crew.
  • Students must demonstrate completion standards set forth in Standard Pilot Training.

4. Course Completion

  • Comprehension test and discussion
  • Critique and feedback on Training Course
  • Presentation of Advanced Pilot Training Certificate in photo session for Hovercraft Training Centers
